Who turns up, and what happens to everything

Yes. We work out of Sudbury and cover about 30 miles from it, which takes in most of Suffolk and north Essex. We are not a national booking service that passes your job to whoever answers, and the number on this site rings a person rather than a call centre.

A lot of it goes to charity. Clothes, furniture and household things that somebody else can use do not go in a skip, and you do not need to sort, bag or take anything anywhere first. We do that part.

It is the question people are thinking about and almost nobody asks out loud, usually because they feel they ought to have the time to do it themselves and they have not. Over 95% of what we take away is recycled or reused rather than tipped.

Under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 the duty of care sits with the householder, not with the firm that takes it away. So if somebody fly-tips your mother's furniture, it is your name on the paperwork, not theirs.

We hand over a waste transfer note at the end of every job. It says what was taken and where it went, and it is the document that closes that duty. We are an Upper Tier registered waste carrier, CBDU634717, and that number opens our own entry on the Environment Agency's public register, so you never have to take our word for any of it.

Yes. We collect keys from the solicitor or the estate agent, clear the property, and drop the keys back when we are done. You do not have to be in the county, let alone in the house.

We come out and look at the property before we quote, and that visit is free. That is the whole of our sales process. The quote holds for 30 days, and payment is on completion by cash or bank transfer.

There are two things we cannot take: asbestos and acids. If either is in the property we will tell you at the quote and tell you who does deal with them, so nothing gets found on the day and left in the middle of the floor.

Everything else comes out, including the parts most firms leave behind. Kitchen units, the carpets and the fixtures if that is what you want. We take stair lifts out, which most clearance firms will not touch, and our vans hold the equivalent of two large builders skips, so most houses go in one visit rather than three.

We start at a room. One sofa or one fridge is a job for a man with a van, and we will say so on the phone rather than have you wait in for us. We do not clear building sites.
